Noise Wall Survey Results

The Provo Section Noise Wall results are in favor of the noise walls.

Since the majority of benefited receivers were in favor of the noise walls, they will be included as part of the final design of the Provo section.

Summary:

The FrontRunner 2X project conducted a noise and vibration analysis of the Provo Section and determined that two locations along the section qualified for a noise wall. The noise wall locations would be from Meadow Drive to 500 West (West Wall) and from 500 West to 400 West (East Wall) (see map below). The public involvement team conducted a survey of benefited receivers to determine if a noise wall would be desired. The noise wall survey and comment period was conducted from Jan. 15 through Jan. 29, 2026, with a public meeting on the noise and vibration analysis results held on Jan. 22, 2026, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Franklin Elementary School, located at 350 S. 600 W. in Provo. An additional virtual meeting was held on Friday from 4 to 5 p.m. The public involvement team conducted additional phone calls of benefited receivers to attain survey responses.

At the conclusion of the survey, the majority of benefited receivers voted in favor of the construction of the West Wall and the East Wall as part of the FrontRunner 2X project.
